Petition To Win More Full-Time Jobs
Contract Says UPS Must Create More Full-Time Jobs
Local 804 Members United has joined a campaign to win more full-time jobs at UPS.
UPS is in violation of contract language that requires the company to create more full-time jobs.
As a result, Local 804 members are being denied a shot at full-time jobs. Now members are getting together to do something to do about it.

WHAT’S THE CONTRACT VIOLATION?
In 1997, Local 804 members went on strike to tell the company, “Part-Time America Won’t Work.” And we won.
Article 22.3 of the contract requires UPS to combine 40,000 part-time jobs into full-time jobs and to maintain 20,000 full-time combo jobs no matter what. UPS has not created all of these jobs.
In fact, UPS has eliminated full-time combo jobs in Local 804 by not filling some vacant 22.3 positions. Nationally, the company is thousands of jobs short of the 20,000 quota
HOW WE CAN WIN MORE FULL-TIME JOBS
The contract is clear. Enforcing Article 22.3 of the contract would force UPS to create an thousands more full-time combo jobs.
It’s time to enforce the contract and make UPS create these jobs-across the country and here in Local 804.
Local 804 members are joining a national petition drive. The petition calls on the Union to file a national grievance to make UPS create all 20,000 full-time jobs that members are owed under the contract.
We will file local grievances too, but a national grievance is the fastest and most powerful tool for dealing with a national problem like this one.
DOCUMENTING THE VIOLATIONS
The petition also calls for the Union to conduct an audit of all combo jobs.
The contract requires UPS to give the International Union a detailed list of each one of the 20,000 jobs it is maintaining under Article 22.3. We want Local 804 to request a copy of this list from the International Union and use it to expose all unfilled vacancies in our local—and put more members to work full-time.
Following this action plan, Chicago Local 705 is making UPS post vacant full-time 22.3 positions and pay back wages and benefits to part-timers who were denied those full-time jobs.
If they can do it in Chicago, why can’t Local 804 do it here in New York?
